Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, Public Space Design Proposal, New York, NY

Ideas to reimagine the public experience within the highly secured yet welcoming public spaces of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office on 42nd Street in New York City was the cumulation of an XDEA research trip to Taiwan, generously sponsored by TECO.

The design proposal focuses on opening up visibility to the street from the existing lobby while at the same time incorporating into both large and small scale architectural experiences along the way including a bookstore at the entrance, performance area, 2-story gallery spaces, with a second floor tea house that overlooks 42nd Street.
